C. Gülşen Karanis Ekşioğlu studied international relations at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Ankara University and graduated in 2003. She earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Bahçeşehir University in 2014 and pursued a PhD degree in Political Science and International Relations. During her youth, she spent a year in Germany on an AFS scholarship and was later elected as “Young Global Leader” by the “International Diplomacy Institute”. Ambassador Karanis Ekşioglu also completed “Women’s Leadership” and “Digitalization” programmes respectively in Yale and MIT in the period of 2019/2020, when she lived in the Unites States as a businesswoman.

As part of her long business career, Ambassador Karanis Ekşioğlu served in the Boards of Turkish-German Business Council and the International Cooperation Platform while also being actively involved in Turkish participation to the World Economy Forum (WEF) meetings in Davos. She first stepped into the world of diplomacy in 2020 as the co-coordinator of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF), the flagship foreign policy initiative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry. Ambassador Karanis Ekşioğlu still continues with her role in the organization of the ADF meetings.

She is involved in civil society and a member Board of Trustees of the Genç Hayat Foundation in Türkiye. She is married with three children.

C. Gülşen Karanis Ekşioğlu has been serving as the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Budapest since July 2022 and is a holder of "Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary (Magyar Érdemrend tisztikeresztje)".
